Tucker named Most Sportsmanlike Player
While it was not the hardware he was hoping to end his Junior Lacrosse career winning, Cole Tucker did take home the 2024 OJBLL Most Sportsmanlike Player award for the Eastern Conference.
Following a season in which he led the Gaels in points per game, the Green Gaels captain was recognized by teams around the Eastern Conference as the most Sportsmanlike player throughout the 2024 season.
Cole often drew plenty of attention from opposing defences and took his fair share of punishment as a smaller offensive player who had no fear to go to the middle of the floor. Often competing against players significantly larger than him, he consistently worked hard and would battle to earn space on the floor or help get his teammates open. Cole finished the Regular Season with 21 goals and 56 assists in 17 games for the Gaels while accumulating on 10 penalty minutes throughout the year.
Cole becomes the first Green Gael to win the Most Sportsmanlike Player award since 2018 when Adam Kitchen won the award. Jeremy McWatters and Curtis Knight have previously won the award for the Gaels in 2017 and 2009 respectively.
