Playoffs Continue this Weekend

The Green Gaels headed to Akwesasne this past weekend for games 1 and 2 of their first round series against the Thunder.

Craig Johansson got the start in goal for the Gaels Saturday night, stopping 30 of 43 shots faced. The Gaels trailed 5-0 after the first period. AP Luke Robinson would finally get the Gaels on the board in the second period, he would add another goal and an assist before the period ended and the Gaels trailed 7-5 after 2 periods. Akwesasne would take a quick 11-5 lead to start the third period, and while the Gaels would mount a comeback it was to little to late and the Final score would be 13-9 for the Thunder.

Sunday afternoon Garrett Thomson would get the start in goal. This time the Gaels would trail 4-2 after 20 minutes and 5-4 after 40. Unfortunately 7 third period goals including the final four of the game would see the Gaels fall 12-7.

The Gaels trail their best of 5 series 2-0 and face must win games at home all weekend long.

Games 3 goes this Friday night at Rickard at 8pm, with games 4 and 5 being played Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 2pm if necessary. Game 4 will be played at Darlington Arena due to Canada Day Festivities being held at Rickard.
