Green Gaels Open Season In Brampton Tonight

The wait is over.

The Green Gaels officially kick off their 2026 Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League season on the road Thursday night as they travel to face the Brampton Excelsiors at Brampton Memorial Arena. Game time is set for 8:00PM.

This season carries added significance for the organization, as the Green Gaels celebrate their 80th anniversary—a milestone that reflects decades of excellence, tradition, and commitment to the game of lacrosse in Clarington and beyond.

A New Season Begins

After a competitive training camp and exhibition schedule, the Gaels are ready to take the floor for meaningful games. The opening matchup in Brampton provides an early test against a strong opponent in a familiar OJBLL rivalry.

With a mix of returning players and new faces, the team enters the season focused on building chemistry and establishing its identity early.

Thursday night represents more than just Game 1—it’s the first step in what the organization hopes will be another championship-caliber season.

Built on Tradition

The 2026 season marks 80 years of Green Gaels lacrosse—an achievement few organizations can match. From historic championships to representing the community on the national stage, the Gaels continue to be one of the most respected programs in Canadian junior lacrosse.

This year’s group carries that legacy forward, wearing the Green and White with pride and representing the values that define the organization: Family, Honour, Pride, Tradition.

Road Test in Brampton

Opening on the road always presents a challenge, and the Gaels will need to be ready from the opening faceoff. Brampton Memorial Arena is a tough building, and the Excelsiors will look to set the tone early in front of their home crowd.

For the Gaels, the focus will be on executing systems, staying disciplined, and playing a full 60-minute game.

Home Opener Set for May 10

Fans won’t have to wait long to see the team at home.

The Green Gaels will host their 2026 Home Opener on Saturday, May 10 at 2:00PM at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, welcoming the Barrie Bombers to Clarington.

With the 80th anniversary season underway, the home opener promises to be a special afternoon as the Gaels return in front of their home crowd.

Be Part of the Season

The organization encourages fans, sponsors, and community members to be part of what promises to be a memorable season both on and off the floor.
