Green Gaels Announce 2027 Coaching Staff

The Green Gaels are pleased to announce their coaching staff for the 2027 Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League season, with Ryan Douglas taking over as Head Coach and Brady Kearnan, Jarrett Riel and Jason Richards rounding out the staff.

The group brings together a strong mix of Green Gaels history, playing experience, coaching experience and fresh perspectives as the organization prepares to begin a new chapter in 2027.

Ryan Douglas – Head Coach

Douglas moves into the Head Coach role after serving on the Green Gaels coaching staff over the past two seasons.

A Green Gaels alumnus and member of the 1998 Founders Cup National Championship team, Douglas brings extensive experience both as a player and behind the bench.

Prior to returning to the Green Gaels coaching staff, Douglas served as Head Coach of the Clarington Shamrox, helping lead the club to an Eastern Conference championship in 2022.

His familiarity with the organization, combined with his coaching experience and understanding of the Junior B game, will provide continuity as he takes over leadership of the team for the 2027 season.

Brady Kearnan – Assistant Coach

Brady Kearnan will return to the Green Gaels bench as an Assistant Coach and will continue to lead the offensive side of the floor.

A former Green Gael, Kearnan has built an impressive playing and coaching résumé that includes NCAA lacrosse, the National Lacrosse League and coaching experience at Queen’s University.

Kearnan has been an important part of the Green Gaels coaching staff and will continue to work closely with the club’s offensive group throughout the 2027 season.

Jarrett Riel – Assistant Coach

Joining the Green Gaels staff for 2027 is Jarrett Riel, who will take responsibility for the defensive side of the floor.

Riel has both played and coached at several levels in the Peterborough area and most recently served on the coaching staff of the Saint John Rapids of the East Coast Junior Lacrosse League.

After recently moving back to the area, Riel joins the Gaels with a strong lacrosse background and will bring another experienced voice to the bench.

Jason Richards – Associate Coach

Green Gaels alumnus Jason Richards will also return to the organization in 2027 as an Associate Coach.

Richards played Junior A lacrosse with the Green Gaels before continuing his playing career at the Senior A level with the Brooklin Redmen.

Now residing in Newcastle, Richards most recently coached the Northumberland U17 team and will bring his playing and coaching experience back to the Green Gaels organization.

With Douglas, Kearnan, Riel and Richards behind the bench, the Green Gaels believe they have assembled a strong coaching group to lead the club into the 2027 season.

The organization looks forward to getting to work and continuing preparations for the year ahead.
