Gaels Travel To Barrie Tonight

The Green Gaels are back in action tonight as they hit the road to face the Barrie Bombers in their second road game of the 2025 OJBLL season. After a tight opening season win over the Brampton Excelsiors, the Gaels head to Barrie carrying momentum looking to build on a promising start.

Last weekend’s 11-10 win over the Brampton Excelsiors showcased the Gaels’ balanced attack and physical defense. Veteran leadership blended well with youthful energy including a number of players from the Clarington Shamrox, Whitby Warriors Jr C team, Oshawa U17, and Clarington U17, setting a strong tone early in the season. The Gaels were efficient in transition, sharp on special teams, and saw first Jr B goals from Tehentsyahkhwa Brant and Mason Littlejohn.

Scouting the Bombers

The Barrie Bombers come into tonight’s matchup still looking for their first win, sitting at 0–2 after early-season losses to Brampton and Orillia. Despite the slow start, they’ve shown flashes of promise and will be motivated on home floor to earn their first points of the year.

Barrie is a young team with speed and hunger, and they’ll be aiming to test the Gaels with a high-tempo game and a few key shooters up front. The Bombers are working to get their feet underneath them in their first season back in the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League.

What to Watch For

  • Goaltending Battle: Gaels netminder Craig Johannson will be a key piece for tonights match up - after shaking the rust off against Brampton on Saturday evening in his first action since returning home from school, the Gaels will be counting on Craig to stabilize the back end until the full Gaels roster returns in mid-to-late May.

  • Road Energy: This will be a good early-season test of the Gaels’ depth and focus in a hostile environment.
