Gaels Trail Playoff Series 2-1

The Green Gaels opened the series last Thursday night with a 12-9 loss on home floor to the West Durham Ironheads. The Green Gaels opened up a quick two goal lead, but trailed 3-2 after the 1st period. The Gaels were able to regain the lead during the 2nd period, however the Ironheads were then able to score 5 straight and they never looked back. Tyler Newman got the win stopping 47 of 56 shots, while Steve Walsh took the loss stopping 41 of 53. An Injury to Tolmie kept him out of the lineup. 

Sundays Game saw the Ironheads jump out to a 2-0 lead and the score would be deadlocked at 4 after the first period. The Gaels would outscore the Ironeads 9-5 over the final 40 minutes and tied the series at 1 game a piece. This time Walsh stopped 40 of 49 shots and Newman stopped 39 of 52. Injuries to Tolmie and Bragg kept both players out of the lineup. As the series headed back to Bowmanville Wednesday night things were looking up. However after the two teams traded goals the Ironheads were able to score four straight, including the game winning Goal. The Gaels were able to score two at the end of the 1st and the only goal of the second to get within one. 

The Ironheads scored all 4 goals of the 3rd shutting out the Gaels offence on route to a huge 9-4 win. Walsh took the Loss, While Newman got the win. Tolmie and Bragg once again sat out due to injuries. The Green Gaels now trail the best of 5 series 2-1, Game 4 goes Saturday night in Pickering where the Gaels will try to stay alive and force a winner take all game back at home Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
