Gaels Eliminate Ironheads

The Clarington Green Gaels are moving on to the Second Round of the OJBLL Playoffs after a 9-7 Victory over the Ironheads Thursday Night. Ethan Harwood stopped 39 of 46 shots faced for the Win, while Andrew Kidd made his debut in net (This Playoff Series) stopping 37 of 46 Green Gaels shots in the loss.

The Gaels dominated the first period outshooting the Ironheads, Goals by Taylor and Dennis (2) would see the Gaels lead 3-1 after 20 minutes. The second period would see a reversal of fortunes and 3 Ironheads goals in less then 45 seconds would put West Durham ahead 6-5 leading into the final frame. 

Three straight goals by Taylor, Tucker and Platt to start the third period would put the Gaels ahead for good. An empty net goal late in the game would put the Gaels up 9-6 with less then a minute to play.

The Green Gaels now sit and await there next opponent.

The Nepean Knights downed the Orillia Kings on Sunday 13-4 to take a 2-0 Series lead. Game 3 goes Saturday Night in Nepean.

The Gloucester Griffins defeated the Akwesasne Indians 13-7 Thursday night to tie their Series at 1. Game 3 goes Saturday Night in Gloucester.

The Halton Hills Bulldogs defeated the Orangeville Northmen 12-6 on Sunday and then again 10-5 Wednesday night. Game 3 goes Saturday night in Orangeville where a Win by the Bulldogs would complete the upset and Series Sweep.

Elora leads Point Edwards 2-0.

Winsor leads North Bay 2-0.

Hamilton has advanced 3-0 over Six Nations.

St. Catherines leads Guelph 2-1.
