Gaels Down Saints

The Green Gaels headed to Newmarket Sunday afternoon for what should have been their final game of the Regular Season. Due to a lack of available referees Saturday, the Gaels will head to Halton Hills Monday night to finish off the regular season.

Sundays game was a home coming of sorts with Malcolm Vivian returning to active duty for the first time since being injured in a game earlier this season. Former Gaels Head Coach Brad MacArthur also made his return to the Gaels bench helping fill in for a depleted coaching staff. Vivian would stop 22 of 27 shots for the victory, as the Gaels narrowly escaped disaster.

Tucker, Muller and Taylor would get the Gaels off to a quick 3-0 start, however the Saints would respond twice before Cole Tucker would bury a powerplay Goal to give the Gaels a 4-2 lead heading into the second period.  The Saints would waste little time tying the game at 4, however the Gaels would respond with 4 straight and lead 8-4 after 40 minutes.

It was all Saints (who going into the match had an 0-19 record) in the final period, scoring the only 3 goals and making the Gaels sweat just a little.

The Gaels are back in action one final time Monday night in Halton Hills before Playoffs start later this week.

Playoff Details to follow.
