Green and White Recap

Saturday afternoon the Green Gaels held their annual Green vs White game at the Darlington Sports Complex. The game is a final chance for all of the hopeful tryouts to show off there skills to the coaching staff and leave a lasting impression. After 2 summers without Green Gaels lacrosse there were many new faces both on the floor and behind the bench.


Malcolm Vivian started in goal for the Green team, while down the other end Ethan Harwood started for the White team. The White team came out of the gate quickly with goals from Brendan Mcdonnell and Dale Faubert to take an early 2-0 lead. The Green team would respond with Goals from Owen Taylor and Ben Kromer, however it wasn't enough and a late goal by Teagen Dempers would give the white team to a 3-2 lead to end the first period. 


After several scoreless minutes to start the second period, Max Taylor would open the second period scoring for the Green team tying the game at 3. Gavin Williamson would then take over in goal for Malcolm Vivian and Calum Lenathen would replace Ethan Harwood in the White Goal. Zach Pipher would get the lead back for the White team as he scored back to back goals just 8 seconds apart. Connor Platt and Julien Mosier would then trade goals and the White team would lead 6-4 after 40 minutes.


Early in the third period it looked like the White team was in full control with a goal from Brendan Mcdonnell and there biggest lead of the afternoon. However May Taylor would score 3 goals and Connor Platt would add his second of the game to see the Green team take there first lead of the game with just a minute left in the game. It looked like the Green team had the win until Brendan Mcdonnell scored his 3rd of the night a buzzer beater with only a second on the clock.
